Heat oil over medium heat. Add tofu with a spatula and sear for about 3 minutes per side until golden.
Reduce to medium-low and pour the sauce around the tofu.
Simmer for 4–5 minutes, spooning sauce over the tofu. Use a wide spatula if turning the slices.
Turn off the heat, add sesame oil, scallion, and sesame seeds, then transfer with a spatula.
🌟 Pro Chef Tips
- • Dry the tofu well to reduce splattering and improve browning.
- • Leave a few spoonfuls of sauce in the pan instead of reducing it completely dry.
⚠️ Avoid Common Pitfalls
- ❌ Turning tofu repeatedly can break it; wait until the first side is well seared.
- ❌ The sweetened sauce can burn over high heat, so keep it at medium-low.
